Luz L. Urrutia serves as Vice President, Retail for Oportun since November 2013. Prior to joining Oportun, Ms. Urrutia was one of the founding investors and President and Chief Operating Officer for El Banco de Nuestra Comunidad from 2001 to 2013, a financial institution focused on serving the un/under-banked Hispanic population with alternative financial services and banking products. Prior to joining El Banco, Ms. Urrutia was a Senior Vice President/Managing Director with Wachovia National Bank, where she spent 18 years in various positions in management, within the Corporate and Retail Bank, Treasury Services, Capital Markets, Credit Loan Administration, International and Operations. Since June 2004, Ms. Urrutia has served on the Board of the Center for Financial Services Innovation, or CFSI, in Chicago. From 2007 to 2009, Ms. Urrutia served on the Board of the Consumer Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Bank in Washington, D.C. From 2006 to 2008, she also served on the Board of Worthwhile Ventures, a microfinance enterprise. Ms. Urrutia received a B.S., magna cum laude, in Business Administration in Finance and a MBA, both from Georgia State University. She holds NASD Securities licenses Series 7 and 63.
