Mergers & Acquisitions names the 2023 Most Influential Women in Mid-Market M&A, including ALTI Financial’s Sheryl Schwartz.

Tell us about yourself.
I am a longstanding institutional investor, board member and professor. In addition to being a co-founder and chief investment officer of ALTI Financial, I serve as an independent board member of Cartesian Growth II, on the board of directors of the Women’s Association of Venture and Equity (WAVE), which is a nonprofit organization committed to the development and advancement of women in private equity and venture capital, and am an adjunct professor, finance and private equity at Fordham Gabelli School of Business.

I am also a fellow at the Alternative Investment Forum, a think tank focused on the alternative investment industry and actively involved in the women’s steering committee.

How are you advancing the state of women?
I am a female and have an owner stake. Given that under seven percent of venture capital investments last year were channeled into women-owned businesses, we were able to negotiate a total of $5 million in a combination of a venture round and an agreement with a global multi boutique asset management firm to make an investment into ALTI.

In my role as an adjunct professor, I was able to attract a significant number of students to apply and get accepted into the career forum at WAVE. In fact, I was informed that 22 of the 300 Students accepted into the career forum were from my efforts.
