Today's Transactions: Wind Point Acquires JW Pet and Canine Hardware

The companies will be added to the PE firm’s portfolio company, Petmate

Chicago private equity firm Wind Point Partners has acquired pet toy companies JW Pet Co. and Canine Hardware.

The PE firm made the investment through its portfolio company Petmate. Petmate makes and markets pet products, including carriers, shelters, collars, leashes, feeding and waters sysetms, toys and pet beds. The company’s brands include Petmate, Aspen Pet, Doskocil, Booda, Dogzilla, Fat Cat and LeBistro.

The deals are Arlington, Texas-based Petmate’s fourth and fifth acquisitions. It previously bought Muchkin Inc.’s Fat Cat and Bamboo product lines, Kennel-Aire and WetNoz Inc.

Wind Point’s portfolio companies include Rupari Foods, Hilex Poly Co. and Active Interest Media.
