Advent International Corp definitively agreed to acquire the coating resins business of Cytec Industries Inc, a Woodland Park-based manufacturer and wholesaler of specialty chemicals, for $1.15 billion, in a leveraged buyout transaction. The consideration was to consist of $1.032 billion in cash and the assumption of $118 million in liabilities. Originally, in May 2012, Cytec announced that it was seeking a buyer for its coating resins business. Advent, Apollo Global Management LLC, Blackstone Group LP, Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corp and Rhone Group LLC were named potential bidders.

American Securities LLC acquired HHI Group Holdings LLC, a Royal Oak-based manufacturer of forged component, from KPS Capital Partners LP, in a leveraged buyout transaction. Terms were not disclosed. BP plc - Refinery,Texas City, Texas | Marathon Petroleum Corp

Marathon Petroleum Corp definitively agreed to acquire the refinery, located in Texas City, of BP PLC, a London- based oil and gas exploration and production company, for an estimated $2.498 billion. The consideration was to consist of $598 million in cash, an estimated $1.2 billion in inventories and up to $700 million in profit-related payments. Originally, in September 2012, Marathon was rumored to be planning to acquire the refinery from BP plc. The transaction was to include three intrastate NGL pipelines originating at the refinery, an allocation of BP's Colonial Pipeline Co shipper history, four terminals, and retail marketing contract assignments for branded sites and a 1,040 megawatt cogeneration facility.
