Vida Shoes Buys Espadrille Innovator Andre Assous

The deal follows in the footsteps of many other retail transactions

Vida Shoes International Inc. has acquired Andre Assous Co., a footwear company, follows in the footsteps of other recent retail transactions.

Andre Assous, known as the king of espadrilles, is based in Oceanside, N.Y. The company makes women’s espadrilles, boots, wedges and heels.

Vida Shoes plans to broaden the shoe brand’s market penetration. Terms were not disclosed. 

Vida Shoes, based in New York, makes and owns a several footwear brands, including OshKosh, Esprit, Sag Harbor and South Pole.

In January, Gap Inc. (NYSE: GPS) purchased of Intermix Holdco Inc., a luxury women’s retailer. In December, Delta Galil USA agreed to buy LittleMissMatched, a children’s sock company and in October, PVH Corp. (NYSE: PVH) acquired Warnaco Group Inc. (NYSE: WRC), which gave it the rest of the Calvin Klein brand as well as Speedo.
