New York-based defense contractor L-3 Communications Holdings Inc. has completed its $210 million cash acquisition of Kollmorgen Electro-Optical from Danaher Corp. Kollmorgen, previously part of Danaher’s “industrial technologies” business unit and based in Northampton, Mass., will subsequently be renamed “L-3 KEO.”


Klout, a San Francisco company that measures social media influence, has acquired Blockboard, a mobile application geared toward neighborhood-based social networking, for an undisclosed sum. This is Klout’s first acquisition. So far, the company has raised about $40 million in venture capital from firms, including Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Greycroft Partners and FF Venture Capital.


Redmond, Wash.-based Radiant Zemax LLC agreed to buy Stansted, U.K.-based Optima Research Ltd. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Optima Research will continue to act as Europe's local office for sales and support of Zemax 12, a software system that provides training in computer-based optical design methods. The deal was announced late Tuesday, Feb. 7.


ShopRunner, an online shopping service, announced its purchase of San Carlos, Calif.-based ShopSanity, a service that helps consumers organize tracking orders and receipts. Terms of the deal were not announced. New York-based ShopRunner consists of a retail network that includes relationships with major brands, including Lord & Taylor LLC, Toys “R” Us Ltd., American Eagle Outfitters, Sports Authority Inc. and Drugstore.com Inc.
