Hicks Equity Partners LLC, a unit of Hicks Holdings LLC, acquired an undisclosed majority interest in Directional Rentals Inc, a Youngsville, La.-based provider of oilfield equipment rental services, in a leveraged buyout transaction. Terms were not disclosed.

Globo Plc of the UK, acquired Dialect Technologies Inc, a New York-based developer of communication software, for $800,000 cash.

Wheelock Street Capital LLC acquired DoubleTree By Hilton, a Houston-based owner and operator of a hotel, from an undisclosed institutional investor group.

Elcom Technologies Inc | Frequency Electronics Inc

Frequency Electronics Inc agreed to acquire the remaining 80% stake, which it did not already owned, in Elcom Technologies Inc, a Rockleigh, N.J.-based manufacturer of microwave products. Terms were not disclosed.

Eyetech Inc | Valeant Pharm Intl Inc

Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc of Canada agreed to acquire Eyetech Inc, a Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.-based biotechnology company, for an undisclosed amount in cash and profit-related payments.

Freeland Products Inc | Econco

Econco, a wholly-owned unit of the Communications & Power Industries Inc subsidiary of Veritas Capital Fund IV LPs wholly-owned CPI International Inc, acquired Freeland Products Inc, a Covington-based provider of power tube rebuilding services. Veritas was a wholly-owned unit of Veritas Capital Partners LP.

Gale Force Petroleum Inc of Canada agreed to acquire the Texas Reef properties, from Great GulfCan Energy Inc, a Friendswood-based oil and gas exploration and production company, for $4.25 million. The consideration was to consist of $3.5 million in cash and the issuance of $0.751 million Gale Force common shares.

Intellinetics Inc | GlobalWise Investments Inc

GlobalWise Investments Inc acquired the entire share capital of Intellinetics Inc, a Columbus, Ohio-based developer of document management software, in exchange for 28.035 million GlobalWise common shares valued at $0.143 million, in a stock swap reverse takeover transaction. The shares were valued based on GlobalWise's closing stock price of $0.005 on Dec. 20, the last full trading day prior to the announcement. On completion, GlobalWise and Intellinetics common shareholders were to own 13. 979% and 86.021% of GlobalWise, respectively.
