SpeedCast Buys Elektrikom Satellite

SpeedCast is backed by private equity firm TA Associates

Satellite communications provider SpeedCast Ltd. has completed its first buyout under private equity firm TA Associates’ ownership.

The Hong Kong-based company, acquired by TA in September, completed the purchase of Elektrikom Satellite Services, a satellite communications service headquartered in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Elektrikom provides satellite and wireless communications services to the maritime industry. SpeedCast expects the deal to help expand operations across Europe. Transaction terms remain undisclosed.

Private equity firm TA Associates owns SpeedCast. The firm has invested in more than 400 companies and raised $18 billion in capital. TA invested in Dutch LLC in January and DigiCert Inc. in December.
