Potpourri Group Buys Cuddledown

The buyer sells products through catalogs and Internet retail

Potpourri Group Inc., a portfolio company of private equity firm American Capital Ltd. (Nasdaq: ACAS), has purchased Cuddledown for an undisclosed amount.

Yarmouth, Maine-based Cuddledown markets bedding, comforters, pillows and apparel to individuals, hotels and luxury retailers.

Potpourri, headquartered in Chelmsford, Mass., is a catalog and Internet retailer of apparel and gifts, sold through brands Potpourri, Northstyle, Expressions and In the Company of Dogs.

American Capital is a publicly traded private equity firm based in Bethesda, Md., that manages $18.6 billion in assets.  

Tully & Holland Inc. advised Cuddledown on the transaction.
