The most recent hires from investment banks, law firms, private equity groups and corporations

Ballard Spahr – The firm expanded its litigation, real estate, and public finance capability in the Southeast by poaching five well-respected Atlanta attorneys from Schiff Hardin. They include Mark Stewart, Han Choi, Ethan Cohen, Byung Pak and Tracy Plott. They each specialize in counseling Korean businesses.


The Capital Solutions Group – The firm hired Dirk Davidson and Imran Kureshy as managing directors, with the goal of expanding the firm's client coverage in the Midwest and Southwest regions. Most recently, Davidson was president of Merchandise Center LLC, a wholesaler and distributor of close-out products in the retail market. His banking career includes 14 years at Citibank in the US and Europe, including managing director of loan structuring and syndication for Citibank Europe. Imran joins from CEVO Capital where, as managing director, he managed a portfolio of credit and equity investments primarily in the financial, communications and technology industries. Prior to CEVO, Imran founded KureshyCo, where he provided corporate finance advisory and debt placement services for vendor finance to communications and technology companies. Imran also worked at Citicorp for 12 years under various leadership positions.


Crowell & Moring LLP – The law firm elected seven attorneys to the firm’s partnership including Sean-Paul Brankin in the firm's Brussels office; Van-Dzung Vu Nguyen in Orange County. Calif., and Matthew Cheney, Kelly Howard, Ryan Tisch, David Cross and Aryeh Portnoy in Washington, D.C.


Houlihan Lokey - The international investment bank announced that Sean Windsor has joined the firm as a Director in the New York office and is the latest hire into the transaction advisory services practice as part of its ongoing global expansion. Windsor was previously a senior managing director at FTI Consulting. Prior to that, he was a director at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. During his career, Windsor has held various positions as an investment banker, an accounting manager in private industry and an auditor.


Kleinberg Kaplan Wolff & Cohen PC – The law firm appointed Paris Gunther as its first chief marketing officer. She will be based in New York. Previously, Gunther served as director of marketing for Wilson Elser LLP, and as a business development consultant at Shearman & Sterling LLP. She has also held marketing positions at United Press International and Lexis-Nexis. For several years, she was a full time faculty member at the Carl H. Linder College of Business at the University of Cincinnati.


Robert W. Baird & Co. – The international investment banking and private equity firm will appoint Paul Bail as a managing director to its investment banking team in London on Feb. 1. Bail was most recently director of debt advisory for private equity transactions at Investec Bank. Prior to Investec he spent 4 years at Barclays Bank Group, most recently as Managing Director, leading the Financial Sponsors Group. While at Barclays, Bail also served on the Board Director of Barclays Financial Investments Ltd., the fund investment vehicle for Barclays fund investments. He also spent 8 years at Bank of America and seven years at TSB Group in various Financial Sponsor and Corporate Finance roles.


PEF Services LLC – The fund administrator for small to mid-size private capital funds announced two hires. Mark Heil has joined as executive vice president of business development and Masil Estevez as Quality Assurance Analyst. Heil joins PEF from CereNova Fund Marketing LLC, a boutique marketing consulting firm that he founded in 2005. Estevez joins PEF from Verizon-Infotree Services. Subsequently, PEF also promoted David DiMatteo to manager and MaryAnn Lubanski to senior accountant. Prior to joining PEF in 2008, DiMatteo was with Morgan Stanley for six years as a senior accountant. Lubanski joined PEF’s accounting team in 2009 from Bruno DiBello & Co. where she was a staff accountant.


Willis North America – The a unit of Willis Group Holdings, the global insurance broker with operations in Chicago, appointed William Monat as senior placement specialist, transactional solutions products, national mergers and acquisitions practice, effective immediately. Monat previously held leadership roles at Equity Risk Partners, Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker LLP and Aon Corporation.
