PE Firm Sells Stake in Retailer MQ

MQ sells high-fashion brands to men and women

Bengt Jaller Klädcenter AB, Swedish clothing chain MQ Retail AB’s second-largest owner, and a number of other Swedish and Nordic companies, have acquired 28.2 percent of the MQ’s equity.

The group bought the stake from CapMan, a private equity firm based in Helsinki, Finland.

MQ, based in Gothenburg, Sweden, sells proprietary and external high-fashion brands for men and women. The company, founded in 1957, has 119 stores.  Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.

CapMan has invested in Cardinal Foods AS, Nice Entertainment Group and Lumene. The firm was established in 1989 and invested in MQ in 2006.
