NCR Acquires UGenius Technology

UGenius Technology makes video-banking software for ATMs

NCR Corp. (NYSE: NCR) purchased UGenius Technology Inc., a video-banking software company.

NCR’s acquisition will help it grow its interactive teller services, which helps consumers conduct remote assisted-teller machine (ATM) transactions.

The two companies collaborated in 2011 to build the first software that lets banks deliver the first ATM allowing consumers talk and bank with a live, remote teller. NCR acquired a minority stake in Sandy, Utah-based UGenius in January 2012.

NCR, headquartered in Duluth, Ga., plans to integrate uGenius' technology with its Aptra Interactive Teller product, which the ATM maker expects to test with several U.S. banks in the first half of 2013. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
