Geoffrey Jones previously oversaw Kohlberg Kravis Roberts' credit investments.

Geoffrey Jones is heading to distressed investor Tennenbaum Capital Partners, where he will serve as a principal at the firm. Most recently, Jones was a principal at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, where he oversaw the firm's credit investments.
The distressed and turnaround space has seen a fair amount of movement in recent months. On the sponsor side, KPS Capital Partners recently poached Gores Group veteran Daniel Gray to serve as a managing director of business development. Among the banks, Livingstone Partners, in April tapped Joseph Greenwood to serve as director of special situations, while Jefferies & Co. recently hired Samantha Wessels as a managing director and senior credit analyst in London to focus on special situations and distressed credit.
Tennenbaum's new hire, Jones, spent roughly five years at KKR, and before that spent time at BNY Mellon. He also put in stints at Deloitte LLP, spirits giant Brown-Forman Corp. and at law firm Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff.
Based in Santa Monica, Tennenbaum targets debt and equity investments in both private and public companies. The firm was founded by Bear Stearns veteran Michael Tennenbaum in 1996. BusinessWeek reported in March that the firm was raising a $1 billion fund distressed debt fund that would focus on bankruptcy loans.
