High Road Grabs Cheese Maker in Latest Food Deal

Ry-Con Specialty Foods, the target, makes hormone and antibiotic-free cheese sold under the Andrew & Everett brand

High Road Capital Partners has purchased Ry-Con Specialty Foods Inc., in the latest deal in the food space. 

Ry-Con makes specialty hormone and antibiotic-free cheeses under the Andrew & Everett brand. 

High Road made the acquisition through portfolio company Panos, which the firm acquired in 2010. Panos makes and markets natural and specialty food and beverage products sold in the U.S. and Canada. Its brands include KA-ME, a line of Asian-food products, MI-DEL, a line of gluten-free cookies and Sesmark rice and wheat crackers.

New York-based High Road manages for than $150 million in committed capital. Accentus, Advanced Sleep Medicine Services Inc. and Celco Controls Ltd. are among its portfolio companies.

Other recent food deals have included Arca Continental SAB de CV’s acquisition of Wise Foods Inc., Arbor Investment’s purchase of Columbus Manufacturing Inc., a cured meats company, and http://www.themiddlemarket.com/news/conagra-buys-ralcorp-for-6-8-billion-235676-1.html's (NYSE: CAG) purchase of Ralcorp Holdings Inc. (NYSE: RAH) in November. 

Fifth Third Bank NA provided financing for the deal.
