GSI Purchases Display Maker NDS for $82.5M

NDS makes surgical and radiology displays

GSI Group Inc. (Nasdaq: GSIG) has purchased NDS Surgical Imaging, a company that makes surgical and radiology displays, for $82.5 million in cash.

GSI supplies laser, precision motion and optical technologies to the medical, electronics, industrial and scientific markets. The company expects the acquisition to expand its existing sales channels.

NDS’ flat-panel displays are assembled into medical-grade enclosures and have color-correction software algorithms.

The price includes $25 million from cash on hand and $57.5 million from GSI’s credit facility.
