Today's Transactions:
Diodes Acquires BCD Semiconductor for $151M

The transaction is one of several semiconductor deals in 2012

Diodes Inc. (Nasdaq: DIOD) will buy BCD Semiconductor Manufacturing Ltd., which makes analog devices, in a deal valued at $151 million.

The Plano, Texas-based buyer manufactures analog-semiconductor products. BCD’s products are also used by the semiconductor market. Diodes expects the acquisition to strengthen its analog product portfolio and broaden its presence in Asia through BCD’s local market position in China.

This is the latest of several semiconductor deals to be announced in recent weeks.

In December, Avnet Inc. (NYSE: AVT) announced it would purchase University Semiconductor Inc’s operating assets, Cohu acquired Islmeca Semiconductor Holding SA for $54.5 million and GEO Semiconductor bought Maxim Integrated Products Inc.’s (Nasdaq: MXIM) video-processing business.

Duff & Phelps LLC and Atlas Technology Group LLC served as Diodes financial advisers. Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP acted as the buyer’s legal counsel, while RBC Capital Markets LLC acted as BCD’s financial adviser and Covington & Burling LLP acted as the company’s legal counsel.
