Cohu Acquires Ismeca for $54.5M

The target makes turrets for the semiconductor industry

Cohu Inc. (Nasdaq: COHU) will acquire a unit of Schweiter Technologies AG for $54.5 million.

The target Islmeca Semiconductor Holding SA, designs and manufactures turret-based test handling equipment for the semiconductor industry. It is headquartered in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The company’s revenues for the year ended June 2012 were about $84 million.

Cohu, Poway, Calif., supplies thermal subsystems and other products for the semiconductor industry. The company also supplies microwave communications and video equipment.

Schweiter, based in Horgen, Switzerland, makes components for machinery.
