Graphic India creates mythological and superhero characters and comics for the Indian youth market

CA Media LP, the Asian investment arm of the Chernin Group LLC, has acquired a minority stake in Graphic India, a comic book publisher.

Graphic India publishes comics about mythological and superhero characters on websites and mobile applications. Terms of the transaction weren’t disclosed.

The company was launched in 2012 as a subsidiary of Liquid Comics, a U.S. comic book company, which will retain a stake. Graphic India will release new digital content around the “Devi,” “The Sadhu” and “Ramayan 3392AD” comic book series.

Hong Kong-based CA Media was founded in November 2010 to build, manage and operate media businesses in Asia. The Chernin Group, headquartered in Los Angeles, manages and invests in media and entertainment businesses.
