Strategic players in the aerospace and defense sector look to offset losses by remaining on the hunt for targets

Today's Transactions:
BV Investment Acquires Training Company John M. Campbell & Co.

The target provides training services to the oil and gas industry

In a deal that ties the education M&A and energy M&A trends together, private equity firm BV Industries has acquired John M. Campbell & Co. for an undisclosed amount.

The target provides facilities engineering training services to the oil and gas industry.

BV Investment made the acquisition through PetroSkills LLC, one of its portfolio companies, which provides information and training for energy companies. The acquisition will expand PetroSkills’ training programs.

BV invested in PetroSkills in 2010. The firm has invested more than $2.6 billion in more than 75 companies since it was founded in 1983. The company focuses on investing in the information and business services sectors.

The deal contributes to the education M&A trend. In November, the Riverside Co. purchased Digital University, an online bank and credit union regulatory-compliance training tool. In October, John Wiley & Sons Inc. (NYSE: JWA, JWB) purchased Efficient Learning Systems, an e-learning provider that specializes in professional finance and accounting.
