Avnet Buys Universal Semiconductor’s Operating Assets

Universal Semiconductor distributes microchip and electromechanical components

Avnet Inc. (NYSE: AVT) will buy substantially all of Universal Semiconductor Inc.’s operating assets for an undisclosed price.

Universal Semiconductor distributes semiconductor and electromechanical components to military and aerospace customers. Avnet hopes the deal will enhance its position in the defense and aerospace markets.

Avnet, headquartered in Phoenix, distributes electronic components, including computer products and technology.
