Arbor Among the Recent Buyers in Food Sector

The PE firm, which focuses on food and beverage deals, makes Columbus Manufacturing its latest target

Private equity firm Arbor Investments has purchased Hayward, Calif.-based Columbus Manufacturing Inc., a company that provides Italian cured deli meats to the west coast, for an undisclosed amount.

The buyer, headquartered in Chicago, focuses on middle market food and beverage companies. The firm’s other investments include Fieldbrook Foods Corp., Mister Cookie Face and Sanford Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Inc.

Babson Capital Management LLC provided subordinated debt and made an equity co-investment for the deal.

Other recent food deals include Saputo Inc.’s purchase of Morningstar Foods and ConAgra’s purchase of Ralcorp.
