3D Systems Buys Geomagic

Geomagic provides 3-D software that can be used to inspect products

3D Systems (NYSE: DDD) will buy Geomagic Inc., a company that provides 3-D services.

Morrisville, N.C.-based Geomagic’s services include design, sculpt and scan software tools that can be used to create 3-D content and inspect products throughout the design process. 3D Systems expects the acquisition to grow its 3D content-to-print business.

3D Systems, headquartered in Rock Hill, S.C., also plans to expand its range of 3-D services to include new manufacturing and consumer applications through the acquisition. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
